For Family and Friends

Illness and recovery do not exist in a vacuum. Compulsive illness affects many family members and friends of the sick person. So too, does the recovery process. We will try to say a little in turn about three situations, one of which may apply to you:

You may be concerned about a family member or friend who you believe has an addictive problem. They may be in denial about their problem, or failing to seek help.

Perhaps a family member or friend has started working the Twelve Steps. You may wish to better understand and support their recovery process.

If you are the recovering person, you may want to know how best to interact with family and friends.

Please read on for suggestions about how to approach each situation.
